When I sort through recipes for baked beans, I keep finding recipes that call for canned pork and beans. It took my Grandmother's cookbooks to steer me in the right direction. Most older cookbooks will have dishes made from scratch, because prepackaged foods weren't readily available to everyone. So, a traditional Homemade Boston Baked Beans recipe was born. Using the traditional method of soaking the dry beans and adding molasses and brown sugar, this pot of baked beans is a winner with my family. Its homemade flavor, aroma, and texture make it a favorite to serve anytime, whether it's for a picnic or a cold winter's evening meal. This recipe is also versatile enough to make in the crock pot if you choose. Old fashioned ingredients meet new fashioned cooking technique. Perfect.
