Learning About April Wine
When a person hears the term April Wine they may think there is a new Low Alcohol Wine out that they need to try but in reality April Wine is the name of a historic Canadian rock band that has reappeared on the music scene. April Wine is not an intoxicating beverage like Liqueurs but does allow rock music lovers a full buffet of intoxicating sounds. A person who is not familiar with this group but who has a taste for classic hard rock will want to take the time to explore the group and the music they have produced over the decades.
The History Of April Wine
April Wine was founded in the incredible rock era of the 1960’s. This band began in Nova Scotia in 1969 with the joining of brothers David and Ritchie Henman with their cousin Jim Henman and friend Myles Goodwyn. The group quickly burst on the local rock scene and began to travel across Canada with songs such as “Fast Train” and “You Could Have Been A Lady”. The group had success in Canada and also some popularity in the USA although the group changed with the loss of the Henman’s.
In the 1970’s the group, Myles Goodwyn, Jim Clench, Jerry Mercer, and Gary Moffet worked to produce their third album with great success. The group incorporated lights and action in their concerts inspiring others and mesmerizing the crowd. Through the seventies April Wine continued to grow and change but had great success with several albums including Electric Jewels, Stand Back, The Whole Worlds Goin’ Crazy, Forever For Now, and Live At The El Mocambo as well as many others. The group had the opportunity to open for many popular groups in both Canada and the United States.
As with many rock bands April Wine had a parting a ways in the 1980’s and the members went on to solo careers or private life. It seemed that the world had lost another fantastic rock group to personality and business differences.
Reunited
It is often said “you can’t keep a good man (or men) down” and so, after just a few years break from each other, April Wine found themselves talking and rekindling the basic tenet for the group. The group reunited and quickly leapt back into popularity in both Canada and the U.S. Their sixteenth album, Roughly Speaking, was released in 2006 with great success and the group continues to tour to this day. April Wine can boast of thirty-seven years in the industry making them an incredible success story indeed! People who are unfamiliar with the group should take the opportunity to taste April Wine and Fruit Wines and let the intoxicating effect grow.

There is no question that wine lovers appreciate having fine wines near at hand and that they know that fine wines improve over time when they are properly stored. Once you have invested your time and money in acquiring a stock of your favorites, it is important that the bottles are stored properly. Wine rack kits are a flexible and affordable way to guarantee that your wine is allowed to age under the best circumstances.
wine rack kits
Most every wine aficionado knows that wine bottles need to be stored horizontally, which keeps the cork moist and keeps it from drying out. A dried out cork will shrink, which in turn will allow oxygen to get into your bottles of dessert wines, red wines and white wines and spoil the product. The purpose of metal wine racks is to allow you to build a wine rack that is the perfect place to keep your treasured wines secure and horizontal.
In addition, keeping your wine at a cool, stable temperature of between 50 and 55 degrees Fahrenheit will provide for the best aging. With wine rack kits you can build a rack that you can place in a nice cool cellar or a quite corner of the basement where the wine won't be subject to the temperature fluctuations in the house.
You can certainly buy pre-fabricated built in wine racks that is all put together and ready to fill up with your bottles, and many people go this route when they are looking for a good way to store their wines. But many times you can save money on kits and many wine lovers would much prefer to spend their hard earned dollars on the wine itself, rather than on the wine rack.
iron wine racks
One of the advantages of building the wine rack in your home from a wine racks kit is that you have a broader selection of materials from which to choose. This allows you to select the materials that fit in best with your decor. With a kit, you can choose to build a wood wine rack or a metal wine rack.
A kit also provides for a greater choice in the design of the finished piece as well. One of the reasons for the wider selection is that, for the retailer who sells the items, a wine rack kit is much easier to store than pre-built wine racks.
Since the kits take up less space, the retailer can stock a wider variety of styles and options in the same amount of space, which ultimately gives the consumer a better chance of finding the perfect design that will fit into their decor scheme.
wood wine rack
There are many online stores that offer a broad selection of wine rack kits. Some of these online retailers also give you free shipping, and since these kits are generally heavy, this can be a good savings.
Regardless of whether you decide to buy a wine rack kit or purchase the wine rack ready-made, just be sure to shop for quality so that your wine collection will be safe in a sturdy storage unit.

A Bar to Remember
A bar is like a woman's hair. It's the crowning glory of a party. Sure, there's dancing and flirting to look forward to, but haven't you noticed how a bar has this magnetic pull that lures people to go rushing and say hi to it? That's how important a party accessory any bar can be. So make certain that you have a well-oiled bar for your party with some bar tips you can live by:
1. For champagne, store it in an ice bucket with the ice only reaching the bottle's neck. If you submerge the whole bottle, you'll have a hard time uncorking it. Waste of time!
2. Have enough ice for your party. Measure it by one pound of ice per person.
3. Add frozen greens or grapes to give your punch some twist.
4. Make large ice-cubes striking by putting sliced fruits like cranberries or kiwi inside.

The Different Tastes Of Wine
In earlier times, wine is considered as a staple drink. And as years passed, it has developed several aphorisms and connotations, good or bad. Several writings have also consisted of wines and its meaning has certainly evolved over the years.
Today, however, wines are regarded as a drink for the wealthy and the upper class. In fact, barrel wines can be really high priced to purchase. There are several classifications of wines depending on what region in the world they are made, as well as the variety of grapes used in making them. The longer the wine is preserved, the better it tastes – which is why older wines cost more.
Wine Containers
As much as wines have been depicted as status symbols, so are its containers. Indeed, wines are quite flexible. There are as much occasions where you can drink wine as there are ways to drink them. For instance, wines can be served during casual family dinners or to guests at a luxurious ball. On the other hand, you can serve them in an elegant wine glass or drink them from a Flask.
Due to its versatility, it looks like wines will continue to exist as it already has for ages. And yet, aged wines will become rare items. There are wine auctions held from time to time where wine fanatics can get the chance to bid for their choice wines. While they might not be too friendly on your budget, they are priced possessions. So, make sure to stock up on those wine glasses or flasks to treat your friends with wine on special occasions.
Drink in Style
Flask has existed for probably as long as wine has. Therefore, they are turning out to be one of those hot items to get for wine connoisseurs. Today, you can get them at several different styles and variants.
Hip Flask are a stylish way to carry around and have your dose of wine whenever you crave for one. They are easy to carry around since they are quite handy. Plus, they come in various styles and colors. If you look up online, you will find Hip Flask as vintage collectibles for the ultimate wine fanatic.
So, instead of giving your friend a Batman Cufflinks as a gift, why not opt for the Flask instead as a more priced gift item.

Right A Date Gone Wrong With A Flask
She's gorgeous. Even better, she thinks you're the cat's meow. You invited her to dinner at your place. She said, "yes." Minutes later, you start to hyperventilate. You remember your last cooking misadventure and what burning food in the oven smells like. Should you call her now for a change in plans? Should you go get your cigar flask now and drink yourself into stupor so you can forget about your problem? Don't. With the help of your flask and these tips, you can survive cooking for that all-important first date. More importantly, she will survive the meal.
Appetizer
Girls are always watching their weight so you can't go wrong with vegetables. Buy a bag of pre-made salad. Dump all of it into a fancy plate and serve beside a cute container with salad dressing.
Main Course
Keep the main course simple. Trust me, she does not need a miracle, only something edible. Know how to make pasta? Make it. If you don't know how to cook at all, ask a female friend for help. Once she's done giggling, she can teach you a dish you can make on your own. Or, if she's really helpful, she will make it herself and all you have to do is stick it in the oven during crunch-time. Don't forget to use those oven mitts. They only look silly for a minute or two - a third degree burn looks silly for a long time.
Dessert and Drinks
This is where you can shine her. Get a tiramisu or an apple pie from the bakery. Order cocktails from elsewhere but be sure to transfer the beverage into your flask. Once you whip that flask up and casually ask, "Wanna try a really great cocktail?", she will think you made it. What woman doesn't love a really good cocktail and a man who can make one? When the chips are down and all you can come up with is a badly burnt steak, you can count on your flask to save your date.
So you sail through the meal and she smiles at you looking happily sated. Do not take this as an invitation to tell her your life story. She need not know you got your flask from a store that sells cheap groomsmen gifts or that you once were the state's spelling bee champion. These confessions would only ruin the moment - if you are, indeed, having one.
So there - your problem is solved. There is a way to get through the meal with the apartment and your date intact. A word of advice to the wise, though - do not promise your date a five-star experience unless you can deliver. If you do and fail, the one and only action you'll be seeing is that blur of movement she makes as she runs away from your apartment.

In Vodka, We Trust
Considering giving away all those flasks you received as cheap groomsmen gifts over the years? Don't. Those will come very, very handy and not just for keeping your liquor cold - although that's as good a reason as any. You can use a stainless steel flask to store vodka in. But no, it's not so you could sneak around and drink it while the wife is not watching.
Everyone assumes there is only one use for vodka - getting people drunk. In reality, vodka has plenty of uses you never would have thought about on your own. So, it pays to keep a bottle or flask of the good juice within reach. You never know when you will need your favorite drink to come to the rescue. Here are ten other uses for vodka.
1. Use vodka to take off your bandage painlessly. All you have to do is saturate the bandage with the liquor. Then, sit back and wait for the liquor to dissolve the adhesive quickly.
2. Vodka's alcohol component kills mildew and molds. You can thus use vodka in cleaning showers and bathtubs. All you have to do is sprinkle the caulking, give it a few minutes to set, and then wash it clean.
3. Vodka makes a good jewelry cleaner. Simply soak your jewelry in the liquid for a good five minutes. Afterwards, rinse it and then, dry.
4. Vodka removes lipstick that has been smeared onto your clothes. Just rub vodka onto the stain before you throw in the clothing with the regular wash.
5. Vodka makes a good astringent. It tightens the pores and intensively cleanses the skin.
6. Vodka can kill wasps and bees. Just fill a trigger-spray bottle with vodka and then spray away.
7. Vodka is effective against smelly feet. Remove odor away by soaking your feet in vodka.
8. Stung by a jellyfish during your most recent trip to the beach? Just reach for your flask. Then, disinfect and soothe a jellyfish sting by pouring the liquid over the infected area. The jellyfish may pack one mean sting but its venom has nothing on vodka.
9. Worried that you might have to call in sick because of a sore throat? Put one tablespoon of vodka into a glass of warm water and then use this as a gargle. Vodka's alcohol content will numb your sore throat, thereby reducing your discomfort.
10. Help your razors last longer by soaking them in a cupful of vodka after every shave. This will sanitize the blade and at the same time, keep it from rusting.
Yes, vodka is very useful so don't be amazed if, in the next few years, your favorite drink will become as much a household staple as coffee and sugar.

Learn German For Oktoberfest Is Coming!
From September 20 thru October 5, 2008, Munich, Germany will once again hold Oktoberfest. The Oktoberfest is an extremely valid reason to learn how to speak german online, if only for the enjoyment of actually being able to eloquate the multitude of food and drinks available in the sixteen-day event.
It is All About the Dishes
The "wurst", or sausage is the first thing that comes to mind during Oktoberfest. Studying German to be able to say the numerous sausage names is recommended. You need to be able to eloquate and tell the difference between the bratwurst (beef, veal, and/or pork), bockwurst (lamb, chicken, turkey, pork with chives, white pepper, parsley, and paprika), knackwurst (beef or pork with fresh garlic), and the common frankfurter.
You'll also have the chance to sample the many types of spatzle, or noodles, the ideal accompaniment to beer. These noodles are made from basic ingredients such as salt, eggs, milk, flour, and various spices. Sample the cheese noodles with fried onions, the kasespatzle. These are so scrumptious that learning German, if only to express your appreciation, is a must.
You can also taste other Bavarian delicacies like hendl (roasted chicken), sauerkraut (fermented cabbage), and Apfelpfannenkuchen (apple pancakes). As if these aren't enough reasons to learn german, wait until you get to the beers.
Wines and Beers
More than the costumes, music, and food, the Oktoberfest is known for its beers and wines. Be able to differentiate the various beers and wines in the fourteen tents of the event by learning the German language.
With high carbon dioxide levels, the sekt is made fizzier than most sparkling wines. Find the Deutscher Sekt if you know your wines well. Or, you can look for sekt formulated from Riesling, Pinot gris, and Pinot blanc grapes for that extra special date.
Brush up on your German to enjoy German wheat beer. You can avoid mixing up one from the other if you speak german because the names hint of the potency of the alcohol. Also, the alcohol levels increases as the wheat gets darker. Enjoy the traditional Dunkelweizen (dark wheat beer), Weizenstarkbier (strong wheat beer), Kristallweizen (crystal wheat beer), and the unfiltered Hefeweizen.
To top it all off, get drunk on the specially-brewed Oktoberfestbier, also called marzen (pale lager). There are numerous more types of wines and beers available on the Oktoberfest, with the Weinzelt tent serving as much as fifteen wines!
Obviously, to drink bacchanalian pleasures, dine on good food, meet new friends, and appreciate Oktoberfest, you need not learn German. Still, it will not hurt to study German free to get yourself heard above the noisy party that the Oktoberfest is.

Protect Your Best Collection With A Wrought Iron Wine Rack
When a wine collector is serious about their collection of fine wines they have gathered, they will be hesitant to put them into an ordinary storage unit. A serious collector would prefer to give proper attention and respect to the bottles of fine wines they have on hand. Decorative wine storage racks are one very popular way that wine aficionados choose to showcase their treasured collections.
In most instances, a decorative wine storage rack is designed to appeal to the wine collector who has taste and style and who wants their wine display to be able to fit into an upscale decor. The bottles people come home with are often their favorite souvenirs of their travels and as their collection expands they often start thinking they may need to consider custom wine cellars to handle it all.
They want their collection of fine dessert wines, white wines and red wines to be housed in something that does not stand out as a sore thumb, but instead fits in perfectly with the overall environment of the living space.
wooden wine rack
But, these attractive wine storage racks are not only decorative and beautiful to look at, as they serve very functional purposes as well. First, they are designed to hold the wine bottles very securely so that there is virtually no chance that the bottles will slip and end up breaking.
Secondly, all good wine storage racks, whether they are meant to sit in a dark corner and not be seen or are showpieces in and of themselves, will be built so that the wine bottles rest in the proper position to keep the cork moist. If the cork is allowed to dry out by setting the bottle upright for a long period of time, then it is likely that the seal will be broken. This will allow air to seep into the bottles, which will ruin the taste.
wine rack kits
Beautiful wine racks must also be sturdy. The last thing you want to happen is for the rack to tip over, breaking the collected bottles. Also, vibration is not good for the aging of wine, so the sturdier, the better. This is why you will find that most quality wine storage solutions will either be solid wood wine racks or wrought iron wine racks.
Wine racks come in a wide variety of sizes and styles to meet the needs of just about any wine collector. There are large built in wine racks that are often installed in custom wine cellars. There are wine storage cabinets that are similar in size to a large armoire and that can hold a few dozen bottles in a small collection. And, there is the smaller stackable wine rack that is designed to just hold a few bottles.
stackable wine rack
These small wine storage racks are often used by people who have limited space and who have only a few bottles of wine in their collection. These smaller units are often used by people who have larger wine racks, or even cellars, to provide a convenient place to hold wine to be ready for dining or entertaining in the near future.
