My Favorite Scallop Recipes

Have you ever tried to bake any kind of seafood? There are several different types of seafood that are quite delicious when baked instead of the usual frying that most people do.

Baked sea scallops is one of those dishes. When you fry the scallops you get a nice crusty outside and a soft moist center. But this can be fattening and sometimes they get dried out if you leave them in the oil too long. Baking them instead will make them come out the way they should be done. Rather than serve them as as the usual side dish for other seafood, consider serving them to the family as a delicious baked entree.

Plus it's alot healthier than the oil. Take some time to gain knowledge of how to bake scallops and so you won't be frustrated when you take that first bite. Bay scallops are small, round, sweet and delicious seafood. They are usually white or yellowish in color. I believe they turn a yellowish if they have sat too long, because they are usually white. You can prepare them in just about any way you want, like either fry them deep or shallow or mix them into your salads. There are larger scallops (see also sea scallop recipes), but they are usually 4-5 times bigger and are not as versatile as these little gems.

Also, the price difference at the grocery store is significan't. Expect to pay just under ten dollars a pound for sea scallops while the same amount of bay scallops will run anywhere from three to seven dollars. This is a huge savings and you still reap the rewards of a great tasting and good for you food item. So get some and really enjoy a treat from the ocean. We are taking a vacation this summer, and I'm looking for a place where my son can see sea scallops. He might not like sea scallops after seeing them alive, so I am worried, but we will see how it happens.

Does anybody know of aquariums or touch tanks where we can view these aquatic creatures? We hope to travel within the United States. I'd like to teach my son about these water critters, but I don't really know where to start. All I really know about scallops is that they have a lot of blue, glowing eyes. But then, the only picture I've ever seen of sea scallops was in an old National Geographic magazine. Does anybody have any good websites about the habitats or habits of live sea scallops? It is hard to find proper information online, and when I searched for sea scallops I found a lot of data, but nothing my son wanted to see.

Crock Pot Cooking = More Time = Family Time

I grew up in a household where eating together was cherished. Family conversations were shared most over plates of good foods. Our dining room had been privy to stories, debates and decision-makings.

My mom has always been the family's source of food. Without her, we wouldn't have had decent meals or tasty snacks shared with friends. Back then (not too long ago!), her cooking time meant she wouldn't be anywhere but in the kitchen. So news had to be saved for later when we were all gathered for our meal.

Nowadays, most mothers benefit from multi-tasking just like their working husbands. Many utilize crock pot cooking for the family to spare time hence, spend it meaningfully.

Even my mom uses crock pots now especially when my siblings and I are visiting. It's nice that we can all sit and talk, drink some aperitif, while waiting enjoyably for our foods to cook.

This Is What You Can Do With Crabs

Do you know crab soup? In my friend's country, the Philippines, he call this amazing soup as 'sopang mais 'and in our country it is called as crab soup. It is mostly prepared on the festival or special day and has always been a special serving food item in parties and events. You can also add extra taste by using cream of corn, egg whites, and crab meat. Tofu crab meat can be used, it is intersting and knowledgeable in that Ingredients: parsley or cilantro, 4 cloves of garlic, 2 cups milk, water, 1/2 lb of crab meat, salt and pepper

Corns are great in it. It is my favorite thing. My friends and I enjoy it together each year, when it's made for my birthday. Millions of people are trying to stay healthy by losing weight, and the best way to do this is by changing our diet. Get rid of all that oil and fat in your diet, and get rid of artificial ingerdients and fast foods that have been shown to be bad for your heart and your waist. Seafood is a great thing to have for a meal as it is very good and also good for you.

They sometimes will be a bit more expensive, but if they are purchased in season they tend to cost less. crab salad is an example of a tasty and healthy dish. You can switch to using light salad dressing or sour cream if the recipe calls for it. This will cut way down on the fat and calories. Use the freshest ingredients you can find. Add diced onions, diced celery, water chestnuts, bell peppers, or whatever you desire. And of course, get the best and freshest crab meat. You don't have to use a whole lot of crab, as a small amount will still make it very tasteful.

One of my favorite store for fresh seafood is Amazon.com. Their online grocery section is spectacular. The primary reason for this is that they essentially have hundreds of suppliers under the 'Amazon' umbrella, making ordering gourmet to mundane seafood items online a snap via their one online store. You can get canned baby shrinp, single serve tuna pouches, clams in a jar, and even more exotic ingredienst not normally used every day. Because of the chance that they'll thaw while being transported, I do not order their frozen goods.

Not taking the necessary precautions, will create a risk of high quality frozen seafood spoiling or being unsafe to eat. One of the fun things about Amazon is the ability to order crab cake mix, crab mallets, the seafood cook book, and even the frozen crabs (if you dare) or crab cakes in a can from one online portal. That's so much easier than having to shop all over for it.
